The Next Right Step Practice is a way to bypass that paralysis. It works by focusing your mind and body on one small, values-aligned action rather than the entire foggy future. Instead of asking yourself to solve everything at once, you narrow the scope to what is doable right now. This practice honors your limits while still building momentum, which restores a sense of agency when uncertainty has stripped it away.
Here is why it works. The brain’s prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for problem-solving and planning, tires quickly when overloaded.
